A message from the director Jeff Zampino:

Hello all – Last year, I wrote and directed a silent film called DUDS – A Fiddle Faddle Fable where we tried to stay true to the 1920 style of film making. Though we used modern equipment, anything you see in this film would have been able to be done (somehow) 100 years ago.

Shot entirely in Las Vegas and Boulder City. Locations include:

Friends of Nevada Southern Railway

Cliffs Barber Corral

Boulder Dam Hotel

The Liberace Mansion

I couldn’t have done this without a fantastic cast and crew.

Camera ops Hisonni Johnson, Alberto Triana, Donald Visage, Shahab Zargari (and his daughter, Arezu) and Shun Otsubo had to shoot on “sticks,” with no zoom, and limited pans and tilts.

MJ Del Rosario kept me honest doing all AD duties plus script supe (while also playing both a cop AND a woman in the park for the Keystone Cops scene).

Justin Melson created some cool 1920s editing effect reproductions, including a miniature (which he also composed and shot), a film matte “painting,” and a split screen.

The story was a collaboration with Kenneth Kastler, and Joe Lomonaco helped me outline and smooth out some rough story spots.

The vehicles were as period as we could get, given our budget (pretty much zero.) Thanks to Bruce and Richard for their awesome vehicles!

Last, but not least, harmonica by Joe Reese, live piano by Kenneth Kastler, and original score by Kevin MacLeod made the silent film less silent.

Special thanks to my wife, and Executive Producer, Meg Zampino who helped in every which way from catering to financing, including as a featured extra!
