In a post-apocalyptic world much like those futuristic world depicted in Akira and Prison Break 2438 where after some catastrophic events plunge humanity into a hell where the top 1% rule the world with an iron fist. But also much like the Stephen King short stories of The Long Walk and the Running Man (there are even nods to the movie version when Alec Baldwin says “Remember last year’s winner?”) the world of Andron pits citizens against one another gameshow style to entertain the world and keep the poor passive, not unlike Hunger Games. Only in Andron, ten contestants are dropped into the game with no clues as to why and a bit of amnesia. The twist here though is that the poor of the world can bet on the games–these poor are slaves. Bet on the one winner, you will become a a free man/woman. Bet on a loser, die with them. Now that’s high stakes betting!

In this world, Alec Baldwin is the master of ceremonies, and he uses tech to manipulate the stakes.

80% of the film was shot on green screen and that kind of kills it a bit, and the story could have been a wee bit more fleshed out, but it’s a nice fun romp through a future that could be.

Definitely a movie for fans of sci fi, action and suspense.
