Now that H.R.1 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) has passed, ICE will have a larger budget than the military of Italy. They are aiming to deport or detain people like me. My family and I are all US citizens. I was born here. This is the only home I’ve ever known and yet…there is a desire to deport us and send us to somewhere I have zero ties to and know nothing about (Florida, El Salvador, Guatemala, and so on). This is not right.
In the 80s people would say things to me like “go back to your country,” despite the fact I was already in the country of my birth. Now in 2025 they’re Ok-ing deporting legal citizens to any old place just because. We may not be caucasian and Christian, but that doesn’t give you the right to detain or deport me just because you have a big enough budget. Let’s not forget about the humanitarian atrocities with the things you are doing to illegal immigrants, and the places you choose to sell or ship arms to. The damage the US Government has done is immense, but even worse: the corrupt, evangelical morals, and emboldening of racist actions has brought humans back all the way to the caveman days.
